Description:

Abstract:

This dataset shows the theoretical drainage pattern on Pohnpei. The flow paths were delineated by Maria Kottermair, University of Guam (2017). This was done through hydrological modeling using a 10-meter Digital Elevation Model (DEM) created by U.S. Geological Survey (2001) based on topography compiled in 1975. Note that in very flat low-lying areas the data may indicate straight lines that are an artifact of the modeling process and do not reflect reality.

Purpose: To show the theoretical drainage pattern on Pohnpei.

The dataset is included the Digital Atlas of Micronesia, module Pohnpei, by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi), in collaboration with Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI) University of Guam and partial funding from United States Geological Survey (USGS), under WRRI 104-B Program, project # 2016GU302B.
